Giving to the ReStore
Your contributions are welcome . . . and needed.
All items donated to the ReStore are re-sold with proceeds benefiting our affordable home building operations. All donations must be screened prior to being accepted by the store for resale. Check below for a list of the items we accept, and please be aware we DO NOT accept mattresses, box-springs, clothing, weapons, paint, or items in need of repair. Donation to the ReStore are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.  
Donations can be brought to the store during store hours, or you may call the store to schedule a pick-up. We are typically booked 2 weeks in advance of pick-ups, so please plan ahead if you are working on a deadline. Please leave a detailed voice mail message if he is not available.
Due to new federal regulations we can no longer accept plumbing items that deliver potable water.  This restriction includes kitchen and bathroom sink faucets, dishwashers, and water heaters along with the plumbing fittings that lead to these items.  
We will no longer accept paint donations from the public.  Paint can be taken to the Delaware Solid Waste Authority's Household Hazardous Waste Events.

Items we accept for donation.


We accept most appliances.  The appliances should be no more than 10 years old, clean, in 100% working order with no missing parts. We can no longer accept dishwashers or water heaters due to new lead reduction laws.  Please include any owners' manuals if you have them, as they add value to your donation.  


We prefer kitchen cabinets as a complete set, but will take individual cabinets, depending on the type of cabinet and current inventory.  Whenever possible, cabinetry should include all hardware pieces and shelving.


We accept doors if they are in good, usable condition. They must not have holes, cracks, rot, etc.


We accept DVD players, and VCRs in working condition and no more than ten years old.  At this time we are not accepting TVs.  Any other electronics (TVs, computer monitors, keyboards, printers, faxes, etc.) can be donated to Goodwill.  Goodwill resells electronic items in working condition and partners with Dell to recycle other electronics.


We accept fans if they are complete and in working condition only.


We accept furniture in good, saleable condition that is appropriate for home use.  We do not accept office/workplace furniture.


We accept any nails, screws, complete door knobs & locksets with keys.


We accept light fixtures in working condition, but currently do not need commercial lighting such as ballasts with pcb's.

Lumber • Plywood • Trim

We accept full sheets of plywood. We accept full lengths of lumber. We will accept trim in smaller pieces, but not less than 8 feet long. Please, no rot or nails sticking out of lumber.


Mirror must be framed and intact to be accepted. Please call prior to donating these items.

Paint we no longer accept

We will no longer take paint from the public.  Paint should be taken to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events sponsored by Delaware Solid Waste Authority ( for more information).  We cannot take toxic, hazardous substances, (i.e. pesticides, powders, or other chemicals).

Plumblng • Sinks • Commodes

We accept sinks and vanities if they are in good condition and clean. Due to new lead reduction laws we can no longer accept kitchen or bathroom sink faucets, hot water heaters, or the fittings that attach to these items.  We do not accept vanity sinktops without the matching vanity.  We accept commodes only if they are in working condition and are the low flush (1.6 gallon) type. They must be very clean!! We will not take a dirty commode under any circumstance.


We accept all hand and power tools in working condition.


We accept a variety of windows.   All window glass must be intact, and must be thermopane (double-paned with a layer of gas).  If the window has been previously installed it must be in excellent condition.
