![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Group Volunteer Opportunities There are a variety of ways to get your group involved volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County. We work with interested volunteer groups of various sizes. Habitat build days are Tuesday through Saturday each week, and a full day commitment from 8 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. is required. No previous construction experience is needed, just a willingness to learn! We provide the safety equipment, tools, materials and supervision. We ask volunteers to bring their own water bottles and lunches. In addition to our need for volunteers we are also in need of financial support to pay for the materials our volunteers use on their build day. It costs Habitat $125,000 to build each home, and we have to fundraise every dollar in order to meet that goal. To help pay for the materials that the group will use we encourage a personal or corporate donation. Your financial donation is vital to Habitat’s mission of making decent, affordable shelter for all people a reality. We do make priority to those who donate money. Habitat partner families and our communities benefit in many ways from your investment in our program, and we know that your group will be enriched by the experience of supporting a low-income family in the construction of their new home. When planning on scheduling a volunteer day, please think about our Ground Floor sponsorship package. Ground Floor sponsors can reserve any weekday or weekend build day for up to 15 people. A great team-building opportunity, the sponsorship also includes a boxed lunch, signage provided by sponsor on site, volunteer give-aways, a photographer throughout the day on site taking photos of your group, special activities planned during the day, and listing in our Community Builder print newsletter (over 16,000 copies distributed). Weekdays and weekends are available throughout the year Contact: Contact the Volunteer Coordinator if you have any questions with volunteering at Habitat or available dates: cschei@habitatncc.org or (302) 652-0365 ext: 111. Other Opportunities: •Collegiate Challenge: Collegiate Challenge is Habitat for Humanity's year-round alternative break program that provides opportunities for students from youth groups, high schools and colleges to spend a week of their school break building houses in partnership with a Habitat for Humanity affiliate in the United States. Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County is one of the few chapters in the United States that offers this program. For more information click: Collegiate Challenge •Local Congregations: Be a Host: Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County hosts college and high school groups from all across the Mid-Atlantic who spend a week volunteering at Habitat. We are looking for a church, synagogue, or congregation that can help us house (provide multiple rooms to sleep in) and access to the kitchen (they cook all their own meals). If your group is interested in coming out for a build day, we will schedule you one for being a host. For more information click: Collegiate Challenge •Event: Habitat in Motion takes place June 23th, Habitat for Humanity has a 50, 25, and 10 mile bike ride which supports our community efforts to fight substandard housing in New Castle County. We've also added a 5k run/walk component to the event. Riders, walkers, runners, sponsors, photographers, flaggers, tent hosts, and general help is always needed. Important Volunteer Information: On the day you volunteer, you will need to bring a completed Adult Insurance Liability Waiver form and a completed Sexual Harassment Policy Acknowledgment Form. If you are under the age of 18 years of old, please fill out the Youth Insurance Liability Waiver which requires a Parent/Guardian Signature. These forms are only valid for one calendar year. Please remember that that no one under the age of 16 is allowed to volunteer at the ReStore or on the Construction site(s) due to Habitat International policies.
Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County offers many sponsorship opportunities for large or small businesses and corporations, community organizations, and faith groups. Sponsorship provides name recognition, team building opportunities, and the end of the day satisfaction of knowing you've made a tangible difference in our community, and in the lives of the families we serve. In addition, sponsorship provides a tremendous value to our donor. The Habitat for Humanity brand was evaluated by Interbrand and Peter Hart Research. Using metrics similar to those used in comparing other well-known brands, Habitat for Humanity was valued at $1.83 billion. That places the HFH brand similar in the range of corporations such as Starbucks and FedEx. Your sponsorship of a Habitat for Humanity of NCC home offers your company/organization the opportunity at identification with a highly visible and well respected brand known for transforming lives and communities.
