"You cannot dream yourself into a character: you must hammer and forge yourself into one." ~ Henry D. Thoreau
Youth United is a program to inspire young people (ages 5-25) to give back to their community by raising money and building an all-youth house with a family in need. Youth United gives young people a first hand experience of construction, fundraising, marketing, public relations and volunteer recruitment while developing their leadership skills through philanthopy. Planning for Youth United 2007-2008 is underway, and Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County is seeking schools and youth groups interested in participating in this year's Youth United Build. Our goal this year is to raise $100,000 for the Youth United house. Habitat is asking schools, places of worship, and youth organizations to help with the fundraising, and when eligible, the building. HFHNCC suggests that each group involved try to raise at least $5,000 towards our goal of $100,000.
Local schools signed up for Youth United include:
A.I. duPont High School Archmere Academy St. Mark's High School Tower Hill School University of DE (Campus Chapter) Wilmington Charter School If you do not see your school signed-up, please give us a call! We will provide you information on how to get involved. Please contact Cassie DiSabatino, Development Associate, 302-652-0365 x 113, or send an [ email ]. Please note that groups committed to fund raising will have priority on the construction schedule.
