Delaware’s three Habitat for Humanity affiliates are working together to ease the energy burden of hardworking, low-income Delawareans.

This statewide collaboration will replace a total of 450 inefficient refrigerators with ENERGY STAR®  models. It is anticipated that this will result in a savings of approximately 432,875 kWh over the 18-month grant period; providing an average of $127 in yearly savings for qualified, low-income Delmarva customers.

Is this program free?

Qualifying Delmarva Power homeowners and renters can receive a new energy-efficient refrigerator for $50, payable after your application has been approved.


How long will it take to get my refrigerator?

It will take 1-4 weeks after you are approved and have paid the $50 fee, depending on demand and refrigerator availability. We will schedule the delivery up to one week in advance.


What do I do with my old refrigerator?

We pick it up when we deliver your new refrigerator and have it recycled.


Can I keep my old refrigerator as a second?

No, part of Habitat for Humanity’s agreement with Energize Delaware is we remove the old refrigerator and have it recycled.  Removing them from operation and replacing them with a new Energy Star rated unit will save enough electricity to power 27 average sized homes!


I'm a renter. Can I still qualify?

Yes, renters who’s building is a customer of Delmarva Power are eligible with the owner’s permission.
