Development Specialist

The Development Specialist will understand non-profit development and have experience working in and managing the donor database, DonorPerfect, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of constituent information. This key role will succeed in providing skillful database and website management, with the ability to execute the essential responsibilities of gift processing, tracking, and reconciliation with finance.  In partnership with the Development Team, the Development Specialist will ensure that the HFHNCC website offers accurate and fresh content and is functioning appropriately for the organization’s needs. The Development Specialist will conduct research to identify current and prospective donors who can make major gifts to support HFHNCC and its mission.  He or she will stay abreast of developments in the field, seeking professional development opportunities to improve department efficiencies and personal skill development and provide recommendations for new processes, upgrades, or tools, when necessary.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/ KEY ROLES:

  • Serve as the primary lead for the donor database, DonorPerfect, including its infrastructure, protocols, data entry systems, gift processing, and report writing
  • Manages gift processing including processing donor data from source documents, updating and editing donor database files, and performing other information-handling functions such as developing and performing daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual audits to ensure accuracy and data integrity.
  • Produces donor acknowledgment letters, solicitation letters, confirmations, and reminders. Tracks pledges & matching gifts.  Responsible for acknowledgment within Department guidelines.
  • Builds queries as needed to prepare reports for appeals, donor recognition, and all other development office functions including reconciliation of revenue with finance.
  • In partnership with the Development Team, refines, documents, and implements the procedures, and processes for all campaigns.
  • Conducts prospect research and generates mailing lists
  • Maintains AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals) code of ethics and confidentiality of all donor records and information
  • Trains team members on Donor Perfect software and ensures best practices
  • Manage and maintain the website using WordPress.
  • Manage Google Ads Grant and report on analytics.
  • Take lead on Giving Tuesday and Annual Appeal campaigns.
  • Assist Development Team with event planning.
  • Additional duties as assigned
