Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County has initiated a statewide effort to provide new, energy-efficient refrigerators to low-income Delmarva customers in Delaware.

Working in collaboration with affiliates in Sussex County and Central Delaware, Habitat is piloting a statewide refrigerator replacement program conducted through all three ReStores.

The ReStore Refrigerator Replacement Program is made possible through a $500,000 Energize Delaware Empowerment Grant.

$3.2 million awarded to more than 150 nonprofits since fund launched March 18

The Delaware COVID-19 Strategic Response Fund at the Delaware Community Foundation Friday awarded $194,500 to 12 nonprofit organizations providing services to communities throughout the state.

Friday’s grants will address a broad range of community needs during the pandemic.

Energize Delaware announced this week that the Empowerment Grant Program (EGP) funded by the Exelon Merger for Delmarva Power Customers in Delaware is awarding $500,000 to Habitat for Humanity (HFH) of New Castle County. In its application, HFH of New Castle County proposed working with their Central Delaware and Sussex County partner Habitat agencies and their ReStore locations across the state on an innovative program to provide improved efficiency, reliability and energy savings to Delaware income-qualified residents.
