Rain Garden Ribbon Cutting at Simonds Gardens Community

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control and Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County have partnered with New Castle County and the Simonds Gardens Civic Association to transform a county-owned vacant lot into a rain garden and green space with seating to benefit community residents.

When: 5 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2022

Where: 7 Simonds Drive, New Castle, DE 19720 (street parking available)

Why: Rain gardens help protect nearby properties from flooding and water damage by absorbing water and allows the growth of green spaces without the need for watering or frequent maintenance, as well as providing a place community residents can enjoy being outdoors.
