VIDEO | ‘I’m very blessed’ – First buyer commits to moving into new Habitat project on Wilmington’s East Side

A dozen new townhomes are coming to Wilmington’s east side, to be made available to first-time home buyers.

Bennett Point is part of Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County’s ongoing partnership with Wilmington and local investors – with state and federal support – to be a part of the community’s revitalization. The homes will go up at what’s currently vacant property in the 900-block of Bennett Street, and a couple of existing homes will be replaced.

Habitat for Humanity NCC Breaks Ground on 12 New Affordable Homes on Wilmington’s Eastside

Wilmington, DE, July 6, 2023 – Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County (Habitat NCC) continues to address Wilmington’s affordable housing shortage by building 12 new townhomes on Wilmington’s Eastside. These new homes are funded by local, state, and federal investors.

The Bennett Point Groundbreaking will be held on July 11th at 11 am, on the 900 block of Bennett St.

Building community: 150 volunteers take part in Habitat for Humanity project at Newark church

The parking lot at Newark United Methodist Church was a flurry of activity Saturday as 150 volunteers helped assemble walls for Habitat for Humanity.

“It’s really cool to see how houses are made,” said Heather Callahan, a University of Delaware graduate student who spent the morning hammering nails alongside her grandmother, Brenda Cassel. “You don’t know what goes into it when you just live in one.”
